WHO WE ARE
Watlington Climate Action Group was founded in April 2019 as a Facebook community group. We are a voluntary group of residents, with a committee structure, and we are part of the wider Community Action Groups network (CAG) in Oxfordshire. We are also members of Low Carbon Hub. Many of our members work in the environment sector and we have good links to a range of local environmental organisations. We also have many members who help with events and our monthly meetings.
The group aims to help Watlington address the Climate Emergency, through community initiatives and supporting individual actions. We believe that through community-wide collaboration, we can have a greater impact. Whilst our group is non-party political, we aim to encourage local government to take action on the Climate Emergency.
Our vision is to help Watlington become climate neutral by 2030, in line with the goals of the South Oxfordshire District Council, whose aim is for a ‘carbon neutral district’ by 2030. We will do this by raising awareness, creating engagement, and taking action.
