Science Together - Creating and Painting with Hedgerow Pigments
Time & Location
About the Event
As part of Oxford University’s new STORC (Science Together Oxford Researchers and Communities) project, Watlington Climate Action Group has started its collaboration researching hedgerow pigments in the parish. These workshops form part of an ongoing collaboration with researchers at the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes.
Workshop 1, 2nd December- Discover how to extract colour from plants and how to turn this into shelf-stable natural pigments. Starting with a demonstration of a simple brew extraction, the participants will have the opportunity to make their own pigments using non-toxic materials from Watlington hedgerow materials.
Workshop 2, 9th December - Discover how to turn natural pigment into watercolour pans and have the opportunity to create unique artworks using the inks, pigments and paints, with guidance from local artist Jules Bishop.
